After a whirlwind tour through some amazing places in Australia and New Zealand we’re finally back and ready for a little rest before the summer. We’d like to take a moment in this month’s newsletter to look back on a few of the great moments from the tour. After that, we’ll talk a bit about upcoming festivals and more exciting things in May.

Australia & New Zealand

Thanks to everyone who made our first tour in Australia and New Zealand great. Special thanks to the organizers of WOMAD, WOMADelaide, and Port Fairy Folk Festival for all their hard work in putting on the festivals. Also a big thanks to Good Morning New Zealand for having us on the show, and a HUGE thank you to all the awesome fans who came to our shows, many of which sold out. We hope to see you all again soon!

May Tour in the Netherlands

For all of our friends in The Netherlands and Belgium, don’t forget about some of the exciting shows and festivals we’ve got coming up in May. We’re headlining the Roots & Roses Festival in Belgium onMay 1 and playing the Moulin Blues Festival in Groningen, Netherlands on May 3. Also in the Netherlands is a stop at Paradiso in Amsterdam on May 2 and Doornroosje in Nijmegen on May 4. Our 2012 album Live In Holland was recorded from a performance at Paradiso from back in 2011, so it’s sure to be a memorable show. You can pick up the album on the Pokey LaFarge website here.

Upcoming Festivals and Shows

May 23 we will be in Chattanooga, TN for the Nightfall Concert Series, a free outdoor concert at the River City Stage in Miller Plaza. The following day we will head over to Haleyville, AL for a show at the Acoustic Cafe.

If you are planning on taking a road trip and hitting a few music festivals, take a look at the John Hartford Memorial Festival in Bean Blossom, Indiana. The Festival is in its fourth year, and it’s billed as “the most laid back festival in America”. We will be there along with many other fine musicians enjoying beautiful Southern Indiana. The next day we will be at Nelsonville Music Festival in Nelsonville, Ohio along with another great lineup of musicians. Some perfect opportunities to enjoy the summer sun and great music.

That’s all the news from this month! Still to come, a second appearance on A Prairie Home Companion at the beautiful Fox Theater in St Louis as Garrison Keillor and company come to town on June 14. More details can be found on our Facebook and Twitter, and as always visit our official website for a complete list of upcoming shows.
