Pokey & JD McPherson Release Duet Track to Benefit Oklahoma Tornado Victims

JD-Pokey Single photo 6-13-13We’re proud to announce that our very own bandleader Mr. LaFarge has teamed up with rockabilly renegade JD McPherson to release a very special, charity duet track under Rounder Records. The two recorded a version of Bob Wills’ tune “Good Old Oklahoma” in tribute to McPherson’s home state and to remind folks about the disastrous aftermath of a deadly string of tornados that ripped through the area this May. The track exclusively premiered today on RollingStone.com!

100% of the single’s proceeds will be donated to Oklahoma City Community Fund’s Tornado Relief endowment. JD explains, “This charity does the best work possible by contributing to dozens of local Oklahoma charities directly related to tornado damage relief: rebuilding, clean up, food and water disbursement, pet recovery… you name it.  This fund applies to possible future tornadoes, as well as what we’re dealing with now.”

We’re thrilled to get this out there in the world for a cause that remains urgent, but is often forgot soon after by those who don’t live in the immediately effected areas…we sure hope you’ll consider purchasing this single, our first ever studio collaboration with JD McPherson! You can donate as little as the cost of a song on iTunes, or opt to add an additional amount of your choosing.
