Pokey LaFarge’s Bugle Call – June 2014

Howdy friends,

After an eventful end to the month of May, with great times at both the John Hartford Memorial Festival and the Nelsonville Music Festival, we’re excited to begin the summer with a collection of performances in St. Louis!

Also, we’ve got some big news to share with you very soon, so stay tuned to our Facebook & Twitter in the coming days…but for now read on and see what we’ve been up to and where we’re headed next!

June Shows in St. Louis/A Prairie Home Companion

This June we’re very excited about performing several shows right here in our hometown of St. Louis, MO!

Come on down and enjoy the official after party for the Riverfront Times Music Showcase on June 7, where we’ll be performing at St. Louis’ newest music hall –The Ready RoomReserve a ticket and take pleasure in a night of some of St. Louis’ best local musicians.

The following day on June 8, we will be playing at the Frank Lloyd Wright House in Kirkwood, MO in a performance honoring the great architect’s birthday.

On Saturday, June 14 we will be making our second appearance on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor! The show will be broadcast live from The Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO. Though the show is sold out, you can always tune in to listen on St. Louis Public Radio – either online or at 90.7 FM if you live in the greater St. Louis area.

We truly hope you tune in to A Prairie Home Companion, as we will be making a very special announcement…listen in on June 14 to find out more!

School Visits with Strings Attached

A few weeks back Pokey had the pleasure of visitingNew City School and Grand Center Arts Academy in St. Louis, where he presented to history and music students on American musical heritage.

We want to give a big thank you to Missouri-based non-profit arts organization Strings Attached, who made this opportunity possible, as well as to both schools for a rewarding and inspirational experience!

Summer Festival Spotlight

We’re looking forward to our third year back at the sold-out Newport Folk Festival, which has been in full swing since 1959, indulging folk fans who crave innovation but appreciate tradition. We’ll perform on Saturday, July 26.

Always a hotbed mix of the new and old in the world of folk, the Cambridge Folk Festival is renowned for its eclectic mix of music. Join us on July 31 and August 1as we kick off the summer weekend festival in Cambridge, UK!
